Robert Murtaugh Obituary

Murtaugh, Robert McCully Sr.
67, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on Friday, March 4th, 2011. This day comes with a soldier's command "To March Forth," and this is what he would want us all to do, "March Forth." He was a Vietnam War hero for our country, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the highest award in our country, The Presidential Unit Citation. He loved our country. He was the son of the late James L. Murtaugh, Sr. and Elizabeth H. (Jarvis) Murtaugh, former husband of Diana Dougherty Miller and Beverly Roth Bray, beloved father of Diana Regina Coleman, Robert McCully Murtaugh, Michael Patrick Murtaugh and Jill (John) Sutter; dear granddad of Rory Wilson, Brooke (Coleman) Katerkamp, Caitlin Coleman, Mackenzie Coleman, Connor Patrick Murtaugh, Emily and Alex Sutter, Samantha and Faith Miller, dear younger brother of James L. Murtaugh, Jr. (Peggy and five nieces and nephews survive), and Elizabeth (Rex) Carder, and uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many in Phoenix and Allentown, PA. He was a friend to every animal, but especially Demi, Murty, Breezy, Tasha and Puffy. Retired after 40 years at PP&L, he was a supporter of the LCYA Bulldogs, Connor's baseball teams, a member of Veterans in Recovery, a volunteer for St. Mary's Food Bank, he continued to clean house, serve others, and trust in God. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Boxer Luv Rescue, www.boxerluvrescue.org are appreciated. Visitation 10:30-11:30 AM Friday, March 11th, 2011, at Green Acre Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ, 85257, where services will be held at 11:30 AM. Interment with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 P.M., March 11th, 2011 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Az, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phx, AZ 85024, www.greenacresmortuary.net Friends and family are invited to share a meal afterwards.
