Mildred Begin Obituary

Begin, Mildred Irene
84, died March 4, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born April 1, 1926 in Bangor, Maine, the eldest daughter of Helen (Libby) and George T. Anderson. Mildred was the grand daughter of Mabel (Wing) and Alvah Libby. She was a direct descendant of the Wing family that arrived on the Mayflower in 1620. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moe Begin, her parents and seven of her ten siblings. Millie had four beloved daughters; Sheryllee, married to John Lowe III of Conway, AR, Georgia, married to Chris Sanborn of Glouster, OH, Rebecca married to Russell Woodbury of Queen Creek, AZ and Kimberly, married to David Lopez of New Smyrna Beach, FL. Millie tirelessly raised her four daughters, sometimes working two jobs. She found much joy watching her nine grandchildren grow up and was continuously delighted with her 14 great grandchildren. Millie's extended family included Cindy Shelton, who she considered to be her fifth daughter and Jim Cross, who she lovingly called her son. She was very proud of her many years as a top salesperson for The Kirby Company in Alaska where Jim was her boss. Millie leaves behind many long time friends and new friends at the Archstone Care Center, Chandler, AZ where she spent several happy years at the end of her life. She loved to play bingo, participate in activities, read Harlequin novels, and occasionally needed to get soap opera updates from her youngest sister Laura Harvey of Glenburn, ME. Her greatest pleasure was talking to her family and friends on the telephone. A celebration of Millie's life is scheduled on her birthday, April 1, 2011 at 2PM at Archstone Care Center, 1980 Pecos Drive, Chandler, AZ 85224. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed, in her memory, to the Activity Program at the care center.

Happy Birthday Gramps!

Jean & Craig Baumgardner

April 4, 2011

Dear Millie,
You have been a very special person to Craig and to me. We'll never forget you and Craig dancing together--he said he'd never had a better partner. We loved your zest for life and the way you gathered everyone into your arms with love and friendship. Now Jesus has wrapped His arms around you--He's your new Partner as you dance and laugh your way through Eternity. And when an angel taps His shoulder to "cut in", show him a few new steps! We will miss you very much and we will always hold beautiful memories of you in our heart.
Love,
Jean and Craig

Dear Millie,
Thank you for all of the special memories, especially those wild games of Uno at Christmastime. If they play cards in Heaven, I'll bet a few angels will be losing their wings to you and my Grandma when you two sit down to the card table together! Thank you even more for sharing your heart, spirit and love of life with me and my family. Montana is blessed to have known such a wonderful great-grandmother. We will all miss you.
Love, Doug

Thoughts and Prayers with you & the Family Rebecca.
Mother is indeed the most important part of a person's life.
But being a fact of life, people come & go ... the key part is how we maintain their Legacy ...

To Aunt Mildred's Family, we would like to send our condolences and let all of you know that you're in our hearts and prayers. We have wonderful memories of visiting her in Bangor before she moved to Alaska. When she would come to Maine for a visit I was so in awe of her because of how viberant she was and full of life and loved cards where ever she was. Our lives touched again when I was and adult and she was just as sassy and flashy. Aunt Alice from Stockton Springs Maine will miss her deeply. I hope all of your memories will embrace you during these hard times to try and ease the pain.

Dear Mama Millie,

I was your friend, and we have laughed and loved. I was so happy to be able to meet Moe......he was quiet the man.

You were a mom to me as well as a friend...............Life could not be better.

Millie, you have passed into another world, and I cannot talk to you. But, you can celebrate without oxygen!!!

Millie loved all of her daughters......truly,.....equal. She told me that in December.

If Millie was sitting next to me she would say......."celebrate life!"

I LOVED HER AND ALWAYS WILL!!

Robin

Dear Becky,

I am so glad Kim has decided to rejoin the rest of us on Facebook. That is how I found you....

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Milly was a wonderful woman and I loved her very much, too.

I am especially proud of how well she did raising you girls all those years.

She was a pioneer of sorts...one only needed to be around her for a brief few minutes to realize she was a woman with a mission, and a woman with a keen sense of humor. =)

When you go to bed tonight, may you feel her sweet arms around you ... and may you rest assured, she knows how well you cared for her. No regrets, hun!

Love you Becky, Kim, Georgia, Sherry. We are just a click away,

Terry, Ken and Diane..

Hey Milly, Remember the time (back in the 70's when I was living with Kim and Dave) when this (then, teenage) girl would get into rebellious fits with Kim? YOU never waivered and were the most FAIR, COMPASSIONATE AND CARING ARBITRATOR. I will never forget that!!! You were my "other mom"! Wow, you have had your share of hats to wear. I'm so blessed to have had you in my life, too. One request though: take it easy on the bingo players up there!! Love you darlin'

To all of Millie's family - my condolences on the loss of your loved one. I was a friend of Millie for the last ten years. Millie was one of the first people I met when I moved to Arizona. Our connection was playing cards - we would both rather play cards of any kind than eat! That tells you how much we enjoyed it and all the friends we made over the years. You will truly be missed...

Dear Grammy Mema,

Life can be tenuous at times, but your purpose was always great Grammy. Just look at all of the people who love you! Your heart was so big!

It really saddens me to think of a life without you there beside me when I become a grandmother someday Grammy. I will not pretend to like it one bit. My heart is swelling with tears even thinking about it. Grammy what will I do? Where will you be when I have good news to share or when Montana needs a hug or a pep-talk?

I remember buying you a Grandmother's notebook for you to write in but you said you were too busy living to write in it.

So here I am with still so many questions for you Grammy.

Questions like...Were you really that happy (people ask me that a lot)? Did you travel everywhere you wanted to go? Did you ever go skinny dipping? Did the taste of a freshly made hot-fudge sundae with all the fixins' send you into orbit? Did you prefer roses over lily's? Did you always wish upon a star, or throw penny's into every wishing well or fountain you saw? What were your wishes Grammy? What words did you utter under your breath, what ache did you feel in your heart, what were your wishes Grammy? Do you still have some?

I will always love you Grammy and thank you for making me feel special.

Thank you Mom for making sure Grammy lived close to me for most of my life.

XOXOXOXOX
love always and forever,
your little red-headed devil

Rebecca and family, my heartfelt sympathies are with you all. Please take solice in the many fond and loving memories you have of your beloved Mother. Rebecca, my heart reaches out especially to you because I know the emptiness you feel. Time will heal, and your heart will surely mend, though it will always have the remants of a small crack. Your mom loved you so, and not even death can sever the bonds that connect you.

Momma,
It's still early - you just left us five days ago, but I already miss talking to you every day. The only consolation I have is knowing you are with the angels which includes my Bobo. You can get his kisses until I get there. I love you momma!
