Josephine Sloan Obituary
died Feb. 23, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ. Jo was born Sept. 2, 1919 in Robinson, IL, the third child of Florence and Benjamin Preston. She grew up in Robinson and graduated from high school at sixteen. She married her high school sweetheart, Keith Sloan, and worked as a secretary to put him through medical school. She was married 43 years and raised four children: Carol Vlastos, Patricia Hill, Susanne Haden, and Bill Sloan. Jo loved her family, traveling, reading, music, and dancing. She will be greatly missed. Jo was preceded in death by Keith Sloan; her sisters' Madge Henry and Raedell Ikemire; and her grandson, Matthew Harris. She is survived by her brother, Jack Shipman of Louisville, KY; her children and extended family, including, eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. At her request, there will be a private service. Donations, in her memory, can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
