Donald Sprigings Obituary

Sprigings, Donald George
Donald George Sprigings, 80, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George & Frances Sprigings. He graduated from Albert G. Lane Technical High School in 1948 where he served as the ROTC Regimental Commander. He continued in ROTC at Michigan College of Mining and Technology (Michigan Tech) and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the USAF Reserves in 1952. He graduated with a BSME in 1952. Following his discharge in 1954, he worked for various engineering companies from 1954 to 1976 relocating to Phoenix with the Hermetic Refrigeration Div of Harvey Hubbell, Inc. Following his retirement, he was an owner of Realty World - New West. He served as President of the Greater Paradise Valley/North Phoenix Chamber of Commerce 1989-2005. He was a member of Rotary International and a past Director of Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his kindness of heart and generosity of spirit and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Vogt-Sprigings. He is survived by 3 children, Kenneth Sprigings (Joe Ann) of Roanoke, VA, Janette Schoenberger of Manassas, VA, and Patricia Dominicci (David) of Virginia Beach, VA; 6 grandchildren Matthew Sprigings (Sarah), Jessica Sprigings, Kristen Schoenberger, Andrew Schoenberger, Elizabeth Dominicci Bowman (Eric), and Maria Dominicci; also cousins Jean Schaaf, Leon Reinig and Lorraine Forsyth. He is also survived by step-children, Richard (Becky) Vogt and Ronald (Bec) Vogt of Arizona and step-grandchildren, James (Auburn) Vogt, Jason Vogt and Robert Vogt and their families. A visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Thursday, March 10th at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E Greenway Rd. A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, March 11th at Shadow Mountain Mortuary with interment following at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank at 10862 North 32nd St, Phoenix, 85028-3204, in memory of Donald Sprigings.
