Carolyn Michelena Obituary

Michelena, Carolyn G.
89, passed away March 7, 2011. An Arizona native, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother is laid to rest. Carolyn was born and raised in the Gila Valley, where she graduated from Safford High School and attended Eastern AZ Jr. College until she married her best friend Louis and husband of 58 years. She is survived by three children, Nordella, Louis and Carolyn; six grandchildren, Michael A., Cristipher, Gelene, Michael L., Brandon and Ashley and five great-grandchildren Taylor, Cristipher, Kenneth, Domenic and Ethan. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church since 1965 when the family moved from Solomon to Tempe. In her youth Carolyn was an active member of the American Legion Lady Auxiliary and Elks Club. Politics was very important to her, she was expressive and supportive to her political party. Louis and Carolyn were privileged to represent Arizona at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC. She was the owner of several businesses, but especially fond of Solo-
mon's "Pay-n-Tote" grocery and merchandise store. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 12, 2011 with burial in Mesa, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Mortuary.

Carolyn, Nordella, Louie, You mother was a wonderful lady, who I was blessed to know,enjoyed her company, stories and laughter throughout the years. She will be missed but will live forever in all of our hearts. She is at rest looking out for all of her family along with the love of her life, your father, Louis. She will shine down on you as you continue your life, remembering how she has filled you with knowledge, strength, kindness and love. All of my love is with you, now and forever. Mel
