Ila Fenn Obituary

Fenn, Ila Valeria Ray
83, of Gilbert, AZ passed away March 8, 2011. She was the seventh of nine children, born Feb. 19, 1928 in Gilbert to John and Juanita Ray. She grew up in Gilbert, Chandler, and Mesa, and graduated from Mesa High in 1946. She attended BYU and MCC. Throughout her life, Ila was active in the LDS Church; she served four Spanish-speaking missions and 22 consecutive years as a temple worker, as well as positions in all other church auxiliaries. She loved to spend time with her family and liked to sew, quilt, crochet, garden, travel and read. Her husband, Eli Fenn, whom she married on Mar. 11, 1955 in the Mesa, AZ Temple, survives her, as well as her six children: Janice (Steve) Gay, Robin (Wendy) Fenn, Marlow (Natalie) Fenn, Sharla (Chuck) Carpenter, Ramona (Cam), Elila (Brian) Chapman; 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Lurline Russell, Kathleen Palmer, Dewey (Ina) Ray; sisters-in-law, Ethlyn Ray and Camilla Smith; and brother-in-law, DeLoy Smith. Viewings are planned for Fri., Mar. 11, from 6-8 pm and Sat., Mar. 12, from 10:00-10:30 am at the Higley LDS Stake Center on Higley Road between Ray and Williams Field. The funeral will be at 11 am Saturday, also at the stake center. Interment will follow at the City of Mesa Cemetery.
