Elizabeth Fox Obituary

Fox, Elizabeth Lynn
November 20, 1920 to February 28, 2011. Elizabeth (Betty) Lynn Fox was born in Ontario, Canada on November 20, 1920 to Victor and Katharine Ferguson. She had one sister, Louise, born only 13 months later. In 1943, she married her college sweetheart and singing partner, Fred Fox. Soon after, they had their first daughter Lynda and 13 months later their second daughter, Pat. They eventually settled down and called home Pasadena, California. (They had the kind of marriage where after almost 20 years, Betty was shopping for cosmetics and happened to look up and see Fred across the store and said that she still got that wonderful feeling she had when they had first started dating.) While their daughter's were young, Betty led the girl scout troop, and the family were avid campers, spending most of their family vacations touring the High Sierras and beyond. Throughout the years, Betty was an accomplished singer and could play piano 'by ear' beautifully. After her husband's death in 1969, she went back to school for nursing and later graduated as an R.N. in 1973. In between that time, she went on a six week tour to Europe with the Wiillam Hall Chorale. Later in life, she was a volunteer music teacher at several elementary schools around San Diego, California, where she lived for twenty-five years. For the last ten years, Betty lived in Payson, Arizona and was a member of the Payson Choral Society. In February 2011 she lost her battle with cancer. She is survived by her two daughters, Pat and Lynda, her three grandchildren and two great-grandsons. A memorial service will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church on West Main Street at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 19th, 2011. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Payson High School Choir Group.

Granny Fox you will be missed, but I'm happy to know that you no longer suffer. Sing on and sing loud...we may hear you on the wind if we listen closely enough. Love be with you.

Thank you Mrs. Fox for sharing the gift of music with everyone. I only wish that i remembered you better. I know that your presence, voice and many talents will be missed on this earth. May you sing for eternity in peace.
