Dorothy attended St. Columbanus and Park Manor elementary schools, and Parker High School. In 1947, Dorothy graduated from Chicago Teachers College and then taught for several years in the Chicago Public Schools system. She married Gera ld J. Woodrow, on July 16, 1949, who survives her. Together, she and Jerry lovingly raised five children: Ann (Andy) Marzal, Susan Diane, James, John (Wendy) and Gerald Patrick (Susan Jane). Dorothy was a devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Liz and Michael (Nicole) Marzal, Jerrin, Caitlin, Justin, Claire, Emily and Jack Woodrow. While living in Oak Lawn, Illinois, Dorothy served as a Campfire Girls leader, Cub Scout den mother, Little League equipment manager, and room mother for St. Linus Catholic School. Dorothy and her family moved to Scottsdale in 1973, and joined Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she was an active member of the church council, hostess for the monthly shut-in mass, and prefect of the O.L.P.H. Sodality. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM, on Friday, March 11, 2011, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale. Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 1:00 PM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7655 E. Main St., Scottsdale.
