Wilbur Woods Obituary

Woods, Wilbur Leon
88, of Mesa, AZ passed away on March 4, 2011 of kidney failure. Wilbur was born in Tillman, SC on November 15, 1922. He grew up in Savannah, GA and later married Katherine Boatright of Alma, GA. They lived in Alma for 20 years where they raised their 7 children. Wilbur was an Insurance agent with Independent Life from 1954-1974. He then retired, moved to Utah and later to Mesa, AZ where he and Katherine have lived for the last 30 years. Wilbur was proud to be a Veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict, serving in both the Army Air Corps and the Air National Guard. He was a lifelong and faithful member of the LDS church. Survivors include his wife Katherine Woods of Mesa, daughters Terry Woods, Karlyn Cox, Rhonda Jones and Donna Cox all of the Phoenix, AZ area, Eve Hansen of Lindon, UT, Julie Schuh of Austin, TX, and son Tim Woods of Blackfoot, Idaho. His brother, Mitchell Woods of Lakewood, CO survives him. Mildred Hart, his sister, preceded him in death. Wilbur's posterity includes 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The viewing will be held on Friday, March 11, 6:00-8:00 pm at Allen's Mortuary, 1130 S. Horne in Mesa and also the next morning from 9:30-10:30 (Saturday) at the LDS chapel: 1266 S. 32nd St., Mesa, AZ. Funeral services to honor Wilbur will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Mesa Cemetery with Military Honors.
