Hombaker, Frank Edwin
Tempe - Frank Edwin Hombaker of Fairmont Drive died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Emerald Grove Assisted Living Home in Mesa. He was 88. Frank was born on Aug. 6, 1922, in Kangley, Illinois. He was the son of Archie G. Hombaker and Ann M. Hombaker (Krocker). He was married to his wife of 51 years, Shirley M. Shaffer. He lived most of his life in Tempe and was a very skilled machinist who retired from ASU. He was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. He was actively involved in the St. Vincent De Paul society and was dedicated to helping others. He had a great love for family, playing cards, hunting & fishing, and children. Frank is survived by his wife, Shirley Hombaker; his daughter, Lois Wood (Hombaker); two grandchildren, Dustin Rounds and Ashley De Ramos; one great-granddaughter, Bella De Ramos; his brother, Robert L. Hombaker and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Charles Hombaker and two sisters, Barbara Vendryzyk and Patricia Harmon. Visitation will be held 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Tempe Mortuary 405 E. Southern Ave, Tempe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 16th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 S. Rural Road, Tempe. Burial following at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale.
