Gladys Leach Obituary

Leach, Gladys T .
age 99, Gladys was born on Sept. 20, 1911 near Grand Rapids, MN and passed away on March 5, 2011 at her group home in Scottsdale, AZ. Preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, and father Ray Townsend and sister Viola. She is survived by her daughter Paige Strome-Musil, son-in-law Francis Musil, her three grandsons, Chris, Kenneth and Jeremy Strome, her sister LaRae Svehlek, and nephews Gary, Ronald and Dale Svehlek. Gladys became a beautician in her early twenties and by the time she became a wife and mother, she had become successful enough to build a new home with her own beauty shop attached in Battle Creek, MI. Five years later, she and her daughter moved to Milwaukee, WI where she opened a large beauty shop in downtown Milwaukee. Nine years later she relocated to Riverside, IL with a single person shop which she maintained until her marriage to Joseph P. Leach in 1960 at which time she retired from her popular beauty business. Joseph preceded her in death in 1988 in Vero Beach, FL. In 1991 Gladys moved to Scottsdale, AZ to reside with her daughter where she became involved in various charities. A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3801 N. Miller Rd, Scottsdale on Wednesday March 23, 2011 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
