James Miller Obituary

Miller, James Richard
73, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully with family at his side on March 10, 2011. Jim never met a stranger that didn't like him and was loved by all who knew him. Jim was known for his love of building drive-lines, dragsters, go-carts, jalopies and his love of racing. He was born December 19, 1937 to Richard and Bette Miller. He was raised and attended school in Phoenix. He joined the Navy in 1956. Well serving he was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier, Oriskiny CVA 34, as a plane Captain and was a member of the crash crew at Miramar Naval Base in San Diego, CA. After serving he came home and married his beloved wife of 50 years, Phyllis Walls Haugh from Ray, AZ. Together they raised 4 wonderful children Joel Timothy Miller (Sheila), Jeffrey Miller (Michelle), Janet Harshman (Johnny) and Jeanine O'Connor (Patrick), 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Robert Miller, Rick Miller, sister Marylin Foulk (Larry), 2 step brothers, a step sister and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. There will be a "Celebration of Life" at the family residence on March 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The interment and Military honors will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on March 21, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to Hospice of the Valley or The Arizona Heart Foundation. If you like the family information please call 623-583-7711.

Hey Grandpa, they just replayed Godzilla vs Mothra on TV like they used to do Saturdays on Ch. 5. I can't believe you watched that whole movie with me. I am going to miss seeing you in your patented Chris Kringle hat around Christmas time, but most of all I'll miss your one of a kind "Hellooo!" and even more clever goodbyes. See ya' later alligator...
