Jess Nims Obituary

Nims, Jess Lee
94, of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Humboldt, Nebraska, was born on May 25, 1916, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Joy M. and Effa C. (Richards) Nims. He attended grade school and high school in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School with the class of 1934. After graduating, Lee continued his schooling at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Working in finance and accounting for the worldwide construction company, Bechtel Corporation, Lee worked on various projects all over the world before retiring, including the Alaska Pipeline. Lee was united in marriage to Mary Gladys Bears originally from Iowa. The couple lived in various countries throughout their lives, including Australia, Zambia, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea before retiring to Scottsdale, Arizona. Lee died in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Thursday, September 9, 2010, having reached the age of ninety-four years, three months, and fifteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; a brother, Richard; brothers-in-law: Dale and Ernest Bears; sisters-in-law: Lucille Utsler and Ruth Mullins; and a grandson, Mitchell Johnston. Lee is survived by his children: Jacque Westling and her husband James of Phoenix, Arizona, Joyce Andersen of Phoenix, Arizona, James Johnston and his wife Sharon of Showlow, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
