Patsy Reeves Obituary

Reeves, Patsy and Gaylon
The loving couple, Patsy Ann (Townley) Reeves and Gaylon Monroe Reeves Sr. are together again in heaven. Patsy passed away on August 28, 2010 and was deeply missed by Gaylon who then passed away on February 21, 2011. Patsy and Gaylon lived most of their lives in Glendale and Peoria, Arizona. Patsy was a small business owner and Gaylon worked for the City of Glendale after serving in the U.S. Army. They supported and loved each other through good times and bad and lovingly raised their two children. Now there is no more pain and only love as they are at peace together. They will be lovingly remembered by their daughter, Sara Beth Stackpoole, and their son, Gaylon M. Reeves Jr. (Chip), as well as four grandchildren. Family and friends will always cherish the memories of their smiles, their laughter, and their love. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Friday, April 8th at West Resthaven Chapel, 6450 W. Northern Ave. Glendale, AZ 85301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Savannah PO Box 13190 Savannah, GA 31416 or www.HospiceSavannahHelps.org

I found a couple of work photos from days gone by. One shows Gaylon at work with part of the slurry crew. From left to right: Gilbert Guerra, Gaylon and Mike Ransom. The other is of Gaylon at the end of the work day, offering up his trademark smile, despite the hard work and mess of the day's slurry activities.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Gaylon and his wife. Gaylon was my first boss (Crewleader) here at the City of Glendale. He was in charge of our 4 man crew. That old song about "16 tons, what do you get" really applied to our crew, for we shoveled tons of asphalt back then. I remember Gaylon as an easy going guy with a kind heart who appreciated the laughter we shared on our crew. Very respectful too. I don't remember any other road crew that would stop working, stand at attention and place their hats over their hearts for a passing funeral procession. Gaylon taught our crew to do that. I can still picture Gaylon wearing his dark western hat, stogie in his mouth and a smile on his face. My hat now covers my heart for you sir. Rest in peace Gaylon. Sincerely, David Brinkman

I have so many good memories of my parents, I don't even know where to start, but last night I was remembering our camping vacations in different places in Arizona. Our whole family really enjoyed those trips, including Grandpa.

My one special memory is the time at Thanksgiving when Sara and Chip were not available for Thanksgiving dinner. I told my aunt and uncle that I would go to the store and get some food. I went to the deli at the grocery store and picked up Turkey, Ham, Macaroni salad, mashed potatoes, rolls, and a pie. We then sat on the couch, talked, and ate. We laughed and had a good time. I miss them.
