Selma Shaw Obituary

Shaw, Selma Reams
Selma , 84, peacefully passed away from stroke related issues on March 4th. Selma was born on the Gila River Indian Community and spoke only her native Pima tongue as a child. She was raised by her grandmother until she moved to Phoenix as a young woman where she met and married Roderick "Rod" Shaw, her husband of 64 years. Selma is survived by Rod, daughter Monica, son-in-law Kent, great grandchildren Fantasia, Tia, Phayd and Alia, brother Freddie, sisters Barbara and Annette and was preceded in death by her daughter Shirley, grandson Joey, sister Madeline and brother Martin. A voracious reader and possessing a curious mind, Selma was especially knowledgeable in subjects relating to health and cooking. Who can forget her wonderful Thanksgiving feasts. Two of Selma's pleasures in her latter years were the Phoenix Suns and her animals. Little did the bedraggled kitten or lost puppy know that when they showed up at Selma's doorstep, their lives had just taken a miraculous turn for the better. A truly kind and caring person has left this earth but her gracious spirit will always be with us. A memorial gathering will be held at the Salt River Pima - Maricopa Indian Community Memorial Hall on March 19th at 11AM.

My condolence to the immediate family of Selma. Selma was a cousin which i wished to have gotten to know better. She babyset us when we were kids in the late 1940s and as We grew older our lives went in separate directions. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. May the good Lord bless the family and be with them at this time of need.
