Wanda Stanley Obituary

Stanley, Wanda H.
93, of San Francisco, passed away on March 8, 2011. She was born in Emporia, Kansas to Roy and Ema Hunt. She earned a teaching degree at Kansas State Teachers College where she met her future husband Mac R. Stanley. They married June 26, 1940. 65 years of marriage, included raising two daughters; teaching music in Kansas public schools; being an Army officer's wife; being the rector's wife and retirement and travel. A career in health care began as a "Pink Lady" and led to board positions at state and national hospitals and associations. She played the violin in the Phoenix and the Contra Costa Sym phonies and the organ and sang in the choir at Mac's churches. She was preceded in death by Mac and her brother Hollis. She is survived by daughter Debbi and Donn Setterquist of Fountain Valley, CA; daughter Sara and Ronald Farrar of Phoenix, AZ; grandson Erik Setterquist of Santa Ana, CA; grandson Adam and Colleen Farrar of San Francisco; sister Ann Townsend of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law Coleen Darro of Sun City; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Grace Cathedral, 1100 California Street, San Francisco, Tuesday, March 15 at 4 pm. Donations may be made to St Michael and All Angels' Episcopal Church in Concord, CA to care for Mac's beloved piano she donated after his passing or Hospice by the Bay who cared and comforted in her last days.
