Virginia Warner Obituary
Warner, Virginia Helen
Virginia Helen Warner died peacefully at home in Scottsdale on March 4, 2011. Born nearly 95 years ago in Prescott to Genevieve Edmund Billingsley and Kester Jarvis Billingsley, she was a lifelong resident of Arizona. She attended Tempe Normal (now Arizona State University), where she majored in Home Economics. She spent much of her life in Wickenburg, where she lived with her husband, Hal Warner, who died in 1985. Her beloved daughter Patty Fisher (Jeff) died in 2002. Virginia is survived by a son, Robert Snedden (Maria) of San Diego and two daughters, Barbara Espy (Mike) of Canoga Park, CA, and Lois Snedden of Reno Nevada, as well as her sister, Genevieve Turner of Sun City. Especially important to Virginia were her seven grandchildren, Russell Snedden (Viki) and Jeff Snedden (Sue); Elaine Espy Yount (Larry) and Melissa Espy; and Meredith Fisher, Brooke Fisher Liu (Tennyson), and Luke Fisher, along with her six great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, she was devoted to family and friends. She loved to read and watch Diamondback games, but even more she loved winning at bridge and Rummikub. She especially enjoyed besting her grandchildren. During her Wickenburg years, Virginia was an active member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and the Wickenburg Country Club, and a strong supporter of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. Desert Caballeros presented her with the Silver Spur Award in 1991. In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginia's name would be most appreciated by St Albans Episcopal Church (Attn: stained glass windows stabilization fund), 357 W Yavapai, Wickenburg, AZ 85390; Desert Caballeros Western Museum, 21 N Yavapai St., Wickenburg, AZ 85390; or Susan G Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 785265-0309.
