Winslow, Charles "Chuck" Evans age 83, of Scottsdale, AZ, peacefully joined his beloved wife, Celeste, in heaven on February 28, 2011. Chuck was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, father-in-law and cherished friend who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Born to Floyd and Rebecca Winslow on March 4, 1927 and raised in Pleasanton, KS, Chuck was instilled with his core values of hard work, integrity and an innate consideration for others. He attended Kansas University and was a Sigma Chi. He married Celeste Beesley in 1949 and later moved his family from Wyoming to Phoenix in 1957 to serve as District Manager for the Maytag Company. His entrepreneurial spirit and interest in real estate led to the formation of Modern Builders and later Winslow Enterprises. He was a savvy and creative financier and any particularly astute project became known as a "Chuck deal" to his associates. He possessed a great love of the outdoors that he shared with his family on hunting and fishing trips locally and throughout the West. Chuck and Celeste spent many happy days in pursuit of birds, trout and the company of good friends. In the spirit of adventure, he was quick to say, "Our side's ready!" and "The world hates a coward!" before embarking on some new endeavor. As a well known and gifted marksman, he competed in trap (1959 Arizona State Champion, 200 straight) and other shooting sports across the country. He will be sorely missed on Saturday mornings by his extended family of fellow shooters. A true gentleman, his easy and graceful charm endeared him to all he encountered in both his personal and professional life. A philanthropist of time, money and wisdom, Chuck mentored by example and left a lasting legacy by demonstrating how to successfully live a balanced life. He resided the last two years at Westminster Village in Scottsdale, AZ, received compassionate care, and was adored by staff and fellow residents. Chuck was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Celeste and his younger brother, Jay Winslow. He is survived by his two daughters, Celeste (husband Tim) Robb of Flagstaff, AZ, Becky (husband David) Sun of Scottsdale, AZ, grandchildren Johnna (husband Chris) Montgomery, Jennifer and Rebecca Sun, great grandchildren Nora and Rhett Montgomery and nieces, Jennifer Levey and Julie Kennedy. A service was held at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church in Paradise Valley, AZ on March 8. 2011. Donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or the charity of your choice. As Chuck would tell us, "Be good to yourself!"
