David Cahalan Obituary

Cahalan, David
57, of Mesa, AZ passed away on 3-9-2011. Born in Cedar Rapids, IA. Grew up in Des Moines, IA. Graduated Dowling High school 1972. Studied at Iowa State. Worked as an Installation Technician at Blackbox Network Services for 26 years. Dave was such a wonderful man, husband, father, brother, and son. He was born with a kind and gentle heart but with iron steel wit. He had a wonderful work ethic and was dedicated to providing for his family. He was diagnosed with lung cancer, which he fought courageously over the last 8 months. Everyone who met him said he was humble and a joy to be around. He will be missed dearly by his wife of 32 years. Dave was her best buddy and her "MOL" (man of leisure). We all know he will guide us and give us strength through this tough time. He enjoyed the AZ Cardinals, camping, being a silly Papa, softball, being thoughtful, exercising his wit on unsuspecting people, and playing practical jokes. Surviviors include his wife Theresa and children Jamie and Andy, parents Albert and Franc es, brother Bill, sister Maureen, along with many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren Memorial Service: March 17th, 2011 held at 10AM Christ the King Catholic Church. 1551 E. Dana Ave. Mesa, AZ 85204. Officiated by Father Steven A. Kunkel Dave decided to donate his body through the Genesis program to assist medical students with their studies.

During my time at Norstan Communications during the first half of the 90s, it was my pleasure to work with and get to know Dave Calahan. I truly enjoyed working with Dave. He was a great technician and one could always tell his installations as his MDFs were always so well constructed. The labeling always perfect; following Dave's work was a joy. I will miss him. Dave was one of the good one's. I am stuck in Parker and sorry I could not be there for the memorial.
