To the family of Phyllis Briggs,
My heart sank when I first heard the news of Phyllis' passing. She was such a wonderful woman....so loving, friendly, talented, generous, spirited, and fun. We first met her when our church, Grace UMC, and Union shared a building for a time, and it didn't take long for us to "adopt" each other. For all these years since the people from Union moved into their new church, Phyllis would still substitute as our accompanist and join us for other events. Everyone adored her! So we certainly missed her after she moved, but were happy that she could be nearer the family she loved so much. So now, as I think about her passing, I remember the last time she played at our church. One of the songs she played was "I'll Fly Away." And I smile when I think of the wonderful celebration the Lord is greeting her with, the great reunion, and the great big hugs we all can expect from Phyllis when it's our turn to go to be with the Lord. God bless you all, and God bless Phyllis forever! Our love and prayers are with you.

I am saddened to hear about our "South O" mother/matriarch/friend. When I moved to South Omaha, Ms. Phyllis allowed me to work in a teen summer job program, even though I stumbled when I stated the year I was born. [smile] We laughed about that for years, I'm forever grateful because she knew I needed a job. A first class lady! Andrew and I are praying for the family.

Mama I was in First Grade at Indian Hill and became very sick and almost left the planet at 5 years of age...after the hospitalization I fell behind in reading. My nervous stutter made me trip over words. There was no Special Education during that time. Mama you stayed up late and used the Flash Cards to teach me how to read...then you drafted me for the Omaha Public Library Summer Reading Club. Mama that is why I love to read and write...what was a burden to me you transformed into a strength...Mama wow...I still feel you in each of my Brothers and Sisters and your grand and great-grandchildren... Always Love Mama

To the beautiful family of Mrs. Philly Briggs, we (Robinson and Watson family) are sorry to hear of your mom passing. It seems as if it was just yesterday, that we were all hanging out, going to house parties and simply enjoying our youth, how quickly time passes. This evening, Mark and I were reminiscing about all of our friends from Indian Hill and South High….where has the time gone. Mrs. Briggs will be forever missed in the physical way however, her beautiful smile, her wonderful words of wisdom and her nurturing ways, will continue to live on, through family and the people she touched. May GOD bless you, Denise (Marian), Mark, Stacy, Craig, Carla Gretchen……..Robinson

To my sweet brothers & sisters – how do I begin to come up with adequate words to describe the hurt that is in my heart for each of you, as I realize the deep pain I feel with the loss of your Mama must be multiplied exponentially in your own hearts. Let God be your source of strength and comfort; upholding and sustaining you to help you put one foot in front of the other, to move forward day by day. She has left an enduring impression on my heart and mind, and inspired so many by her strength of spirit, love, and courage, contributing to so many lives around her in unique and meaningful ways. Allow the spirit of God to bring peace to your hearts as she rests in peace with Him. Lovingly, Karol “Macadoo”

You are never alone; she has taught you that God walks with you.
You are never alone; she has taught you that God says peace, be still.
You are never alone; she has brought you up with loving hands that are still supporting you.
You are never alone; she has shown you love is always around, just look into the eyes of your brothers and sisters; feel her love in hugs of those who loved her too.
You are never alone; she has taught you that God wipes away tears with the touch of his hand and says I’m with you always.
You are never alone; she has taught you the real love of a person is what you carry in your heart, not the imperfect body that carried it.
You are never alone; she prepared you to live a full life, not dependent on worldly ideas; but to have strength in God to show you the beauty in her life and to live as she has taught you.

God Saw You...
by Unknown
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, "Come to me".
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
I love you, and I'll miss you "Granny Briggs"

I work with the senior population here at The Salvation Army. I enjoyed knowing Phyllis, having dinner with her, listening to her piano. She and I shared the same name, the same initials (PJB) and the same birthdays...late March. I was getting ready to send her that birthday card...but she'll be celebrating in Heaven. She was a mighty inspiration to me. I loved her love and devotion to her family and to the Lord! My sincere sympathy to all family members.

To the Briggs/Dillard Family -
The first time I met Mrs. Briggs I was sitting at HER Dinning Room table eating a wonderful meal along with several of Dwaine's other classmates and the rest of the Briggs/Dillard family! I think it was a Sunday afternoon. I was scared to death of her! She said to me "You better eat every bit of it, you skinny little thank!".....and I did. Over the years and as I watched her, I realized that was not "Fear" I felt, it was "Respect". I loved Mrs. Briggs and am saddened that she has passed on but I know, as well as all of you that she is certainly in a better place - her suffering is over. . Thank you all for sharing your Mother with so many of us. I wish I could be there with you all tomorrow, I will be in spirit and from my family and I, we extend our Heartfelt Sympathy and want you to know that we have you in our prayers. May the Peace of God Comfort you.

Phyllis was truly a remarkable woman. She left her lifelong friends and Omaha surroundings to be near family in Phoenix and d/t the move, became a part of our dialysis family at N Phoenix. We soon developed a close bond d/t our Midwest connection, and our love for the Lord and music. I was her dietitian and she was my patient, but the bond we shared went so much deeper. It was an honor and a privilege to have known Phyllis. I miss her already: her spunk, her smile, and her stories re: her life, and her family. Thanks for sharing
your mom with us. Hugs and prayers- Julie Christenson

To the family: Mother-in-law was a mile stone in my life. I always understood the way she carried out her mission. It may not have been our way but it was hers. Sometimes things are kept inside of us to protect the ones we love. The things mother- in -law would say, only made us stronger and better people. There were three women in my life (two which have passed on) My Mother and Mother-in-law, but my wife will carry it on. I have learned what it is to have faith, love, and the meaning of true happiness & sadness. Mother in law I will always remember how you would say “Thomas you’ll be alright” with a smile... I’m still hugging you in my heart.Love you always
