Nell Erma Hansom died in the early morning hours of Monday, March 14, 2011 from complications of a hip fracture. She was 98 years old. A second generation Arizona native, Nell was born on August 17, 1912 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona to Thomas Edward and Leola Jane (Peterson) Harris. The State of Arizona was just 6 months into statehood when she was born! She married Reginald Andrew Hansom, Sr., on June 6, 1933 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1995. Nell worked for 20+ years as an admitting clerk at Phoenix Memorial Hospital. Nell was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions throughout her life, including an 18 month mission with her husband to the Minnesota Mission and as a Temple Worker in the Mesa Arizona Temple for 10 years. Nell is survived by her 6 children: Regina Nell (James) Walser of Colorado Springs, CO, Quentin Thomas (Joann) Hansom of Toquerville, UT, R. Andrew, Jr. (Patricia) Hansom of Phoenix, AZ, Miriam (Raymond) Pattee of Phoenix, AZ, Kathalyn (Gary) Wilkins of Phoenix, AZ, Shari (Richard) Carlson of Phoenix, AZ; 1 sister, Mary King of Buckeye, AZ; 31 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 7 sisters. The funeral service will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Shaw Butte Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 325 W. Coral Gables in Phoenix, Arizona where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will be at 2:00 P.M. at The City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center Street in Mesa, Arizona. Arrangements are being cared for by Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel of Show Low, Arizona.
