Johnny Pierce Obituary

Pierce, Johnny Wayne
Johnny Wayne Pierce, an Arizona Native and Vietnam Veteran who was awarded 3 Purple Hearts, passed away at the age of 63 on March 9, 2011. Johnny was many things but first and foremost Johnny was a biker. When Johnny wasn't out enjoying the road he could be found brewing his own beer, grilling, baking, canning, fishing and hunting with those whose company he enjoyed most. He also enjoyed spending his time tinkering with his computers and playing with the latest techno gadget. Johnny is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Leinen) Pierce; parents Floyd Pierce and Flora (Hammock) Johnson; his step-father David Johnson. Johnny is survived by his devoted wife and longtime friend Sydney "Shawn" Pierce, son Joshua Pierce, daughter Samantha (Michael) Martin, and step-daughters Vickie Scott, Sandra (David) Holtzem, and Toni Jures. Johnny is also survived by his brother Frank (Leanne) Pierce, his three grandsons Christopher Holtzem, Matthew Holtzem, and Christopher Martin; along with his niece and nephew Leila and Geoffrey Pierce, as well as many cousins and friends. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, March 16 between 5-8pm at Advantage Funeral Home located at 6901 W. Indian School Rd. Phoenix, AZ. Services will be held at the same location on Thursday, March 17 at 10am. There will be a funeral procession from the service location to Resthaven Cemetery located at 6450 W. Northern Ave. Glendale, AZ. His widow and family welcome his friends to come by the house after the burial to remember and celebrate his life.

God be with you Johnny. You have and always will be a beacon of light and hope to me. Your strength will continue to inspire and give hope to others. Sydney, God bless you, I am so very lucky to have met you and Johnny. I will always remember and appreciate you two. I am thankful that the good Lord gave me to opportunity to see both you and Johnny on my last trip to Madison. You both are in my prayers and if there is anything I can do, just let me know.
