Ernest Heitmuller Obituary

Heitmuller, Ernest William Jr.
62 of Gold Canyon, AZ, passed away on March 12, 2011. Ernest William Heitmuller, Jr., 62, of Gold Canyon passed away suddenly on March 12th, 2011. He was born in Valley Stream, NY on December 26th, 1948. He grew up in Valley Stream, and graduated from St. John's University. Ernie pursued a career in insurance claims, working in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Finally tired of the long winters and snow, he relocated to Arizona with his wife Janet in 2002. He embarked on a new career in Arizona, working for Maricopa County as Jury Systems Manager, a position he held until his death. Ernie loved the Arizona landscape and enjoyed the view of the Superstition Mountains along the hiking trails that surrounded them. Ernie liked football, rooting for his NY Jets along with the Arizona Cardinals. He enjoyed gardening and other projects around his home and yard. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. One of Ernie's favorite pastimes was to sit with his wife Janet and watch the Arizona sunset. Those who knew and loved him will remember him with each and every colorful sunset. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Janet, daughter Danielle of Los Angeles, and son Eric, of Chandler, AZ, along with his sister Susan Heitmuller, of Vernon, CT. Services will be held at Mariposa Gardens,6747 East Broadway Rd, in Mesa, AZ. There will be an evening viewing on Friday, March 18th, from 6 to 8pm. The family will be receiving friends starting at 10:30am on Saturday, March 19th, with a celebration of Ernie's life to begin at
11. Donations may be made to the Heart Association of Arizona. As Ernie was an avid gardener, the family is creating a memorial garden and has requested native plants in lieu of flowers. www.mariposagardens.com

Janet, Danielle, & Eric,

Judy & I want you to know that you have been in our prayers and thoughts ever since we heard about your loss of Ernie. Dave & Susan let us know and we were both in disbelief, but we know how fragile life can be. We know how much Ernie will be missed by all of you. Janet, we are glad that you have Eric, Dave, and Susan living near you, and we know that they will give you support when you need it. We are thankful to have known both you and Ernie through our long friendship with Dave & Susan. We feel that you are a part of our family too. We watched the slide show on this tribute site and we know that Ernie would be proud of what you have put together in his memory. Words can never express our thoughts, just know that there are many who have your family in their prayers.

May the Love of God comfort you,
Howard & Judy Smith

Janet, Danny & Eric,

We are so sorry about your loss of husband & father. Both of these rolls where very important to Ernie.
Danny it was you & Joshua our son who brought our families together when the two of you started Kindergarden. This turned out to be a 27 year family friendship.
Eric he was so proud of you & your accomplishments in Martial Arts. He would always talk about how well you where doing.
Janet, Nelson & I will always remember all the great times the four of us enjoyed starting with the Coachlight Dinner Theater in East Windsor. Then vacations all over the country-Florida, Las Vegas, Arizona.
Nelson & I have great memories of Ernie & will miss him dearly.

Jan, Danielle, Eric, the Heitmuller family and friends,
Words can't express our loss. Ernie was one of the best. Always there with wisdom and caring. We had great times together, and he was always there for me when I needed pictures hung and encouragement. His dry sense of humor was so funny to me and when we were together he always made me laugh somehow. He is missed by me and many. I feel so very blessed to have been his friend. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and Ernie.
