Joanne Higgins Obituary

Higgins, Joanne
Joanne Zita Laymon Higgins of Scottsdale, born in Brockton, Massachusetts on July 29, 1915 departed this life on March 12, 2011. Loving wife of the late I. Bernard Higgins and devoted mother of Judith Elaine Kelley of Tempe and Linda Joan Higgins McCarthy and husband Lawrence of Scottsdale. Loving and proud grandmother of Judith's children David Greenwood of Scottsdale and Cristiana Kelley of Tempe. Cherished aunt of the recently passed Sandie and her surviving husband Richard Genova of Phoenix. Love of her parents, the late Sophie and Charles Laymon of Brockton, Massachusetts and sister Stella LeBall of Phoenix and their Lithuanian heritage was always with her. Always stylishly dressed, Joanne was an avid reader and favorite human to a lifetime of family pets. Her trip to Hawaii at age 91 was a dream come true and she was the life of the party exploring forests, volcanoes and beaches. In her youth she loved to dance, go to the beach and was recognized as an excellent artist. Her sweet personality and kindness endeared her to all who met her. Making others happy was her lifelong avocation, even in her difficult final days. Arrangements are being made to return Joanne to her birthplace and be with all of her departed family. Having you in our lives has enriched them and made us better; in losing you we lose a part of ourselves. We love you (mes tave myliu) Joanna and will miss you very much forever.
