Jerry Burns Obituary
62, of Peoria, AZ. passed away on March 16, 2011. Born April 1, 1948 in Fort Riley, Kansas and raised in Manhattan, Ill. Jerry joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and proudly served 8 years of active duty. He served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal and in Viet Nam attached to MCB 7. He continued with the Naval Reserves unitl his retirement, as a 1st Class Commissaryman, fulfilling 22 years. In civilian life he was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co., and at Dresden Nuclear Power Plant, outside Morris, Ill. Moved to AZ. in 1989 and worked for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office as a cook supervisor in the Madison and Towers Jails. He transferred to Maricopa County Protective Services until his retirement in 2007. Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa (Terry), loving son, Jeffrey (Mandy), and beautiful granddaughter, Rachel. Services will be at Best Funeral Services 9380 W. Peoria, Peoria Az. on Saturday, March 19. Visitation at 9am, Service at 11am.

I spent many night shifts when we worked for Maricopa County having a cup of coffee with Jerry Burns and talking about his experience in the Navy and mines in the Marine Corps, I enjoyed it very much. RIP my friend

I HAVE KNOWN JERRY SINCE HE STARTED WORKING FOR PROTECTIVE SERVICES UP UNTIL HE RETIRED.
MANY NIGHTS WHEN WE GET A CHANCE WE SHARE STORIES WHEN WE SERVED IN THE MILITARY. I REALLY ENJOYED THE HIS COMPANY.
I RESPECT JERRY HE IS A DECENT PERSON, AND IT WAS AN HONER TO HAVE KNOWN AND WORK WITH HIM...HE WILL BE MISSED.
