Loreto Cons Obituary

Cons, Loreto G.
a naturalized American citizen, was born in Cananea, Mexico on December 31, 1919, and passed away peacefully at his home on March 19, 2011. Loreto served with the United States Army Company C 327th Medical Battalion during WWII and assisted his comrades throughout France and Germany. While in the service his wife Socorro worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber with a group of women known as "Rosie the Riveter". In 1955 he established Cons Barber Shop in Avondale, Arizona and was a barber for 25 years. He later joined his wife owning and operating Cons Cafe in Avondale until their retirement in 1990. To this day people still request their great Mexican cuisine. Loreto's pastime included growing tomatoes, walking the dog, bird watching, and going to the casino. Loreto is survived by his wife of 64 years Socorro, his sons Richard, Mike, Tony and daughter Carmen, two brothers Frank and George, eight grand children and four great grand children. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 5:30 pm, with the Rosary to begin at 7:00pm. Mass will be held on Thursday March, 24 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 10:00am with graveside service following immediately at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley. You may send the family condolences at www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.
