Thomas Orloski Obituary

Orloski, Thomas Joseph
Thomas Joseph Orloski was an extraordinary example of a simple life well-lived. Born and placed in an orphanage in 1931, he died peacefully in his home in Paradise Valley, Arizona, on March 19, 2011 at the age of 80. He embraced each day with joy, love, kindness, and humor, approached challenges with enthusiasm and never shied away from hard work. His work ethic was characterized by the plaque always on display in his office, "Don't assume anything. Get the facts." Tom cherished his family and friends and loved the Lord. After serving for four years in the Air Force during the Korean war, Tom returned home to Connecticut and enrolled in Quinnipiac College, majoring in accounting. At Quinnipiac, he was president of his junior college class and the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. While in college, he met and married Carol Ann, the love of his life. Together with family and friends, Tom and Carol celebrated their 50th anniversary on August 1, 2009. Throughout college, Tom supported his family as a journeyman carpenter. After graduating from Quinnipiac in 1961, he began his career with the GAO in Washington, D.C. In 1971, he was selected to be the controller for a private corporation, moving his family from New Jersey to Phoenix, Arizona. In 1982, Tom launched his own successful company, Oakcreek Funding Corporation. Tom believed in helping those less fortunate, donating each year to many local charitable organizations. In addition to family and work, he was passionate about fishing and hunting, golfing, traveling, and was a skilled craftsman. He and Carol, along with treasured life-long friends, traveled around the world. Tom is survived by Carol, his wife of 52 years, and children Michael (Heather) of Anthem, Arizona, Stephanie (Robert) Morgan of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Kathleen (Ron Fithian) of Livermore, Colorado, as well as nine beloved grandchildren. A celebration of Tom's remarkable life will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011, beginning with a 10:00 am mass at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 East Lincoln Drive in Paradise Valley. Details about the reception will be announced during the mass. For more information or to contribute an online condolence, please visit www.hansenmortuary.com.

"Even with all of Toms success he remained a "sweet soul" & always treated everyone with respect & like they were an old friend or a member of the family. He never took himself too seriously & was quick with an infectious smile, a laugh or a joke. I think, in a way, he refused to grow-up or at least to grow old in spirit, he always seemed to be so young at heart. He will be greatly missed." Lee Stevenson (Az)

Tom was an important friend to so many. He had an infectious quick laugh, a generous spirit, a warmth that drew others to him. He left a legacy of kindness, success, and love for family and friends that will be with all of us that knew and loved him. I was blessed to be a friend and treasure and appreciate all the memories we shared. Tom's encouragement and love made a difference in my life and I will forever be grateful for the blessing of his and his family's friendship. Love- Linda
