Alfred Twing Obituary

Twing, Alfred "Al" C.
83, of Cornville, AZ passed away on March 19, 2011 in Cottonwood, AZ at Verde Valley Medical Center. "Al" as he was lovingly referred to, was born in Grand Forks, ND on March 31, 1927 to parents Alfred and Ida Twing and had 7 brothers & sisters. His youth was spent in Amarillo, TX, & relocated to Redwood City, CA in 1942. Al eventually moved to Phoenix (Ahwatukee), AZ in 1993 where he resided until 2009. Al joined the US Navy at age 16, where he proudly served in WWII on the USS Birmingham & was one of few survivors of the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He subsequently joined the US Air Force & served in the Korean Conflict. His passion for golf eventually earned him PGA Pro status, where he played as part of the PGA golf tour. His time on the course expanded more than 50 years, making him a well known golf club professional. Al's personality & humor contributed to his unconvetional approach to life & business. He is survived by his loving wife Glenna, his children Dawn, Debra, Michael, Victoria & Jennifer, brothers Jack & Chris, sister-in-law Jane & grandchildren. His legacy will live on in the hearts & minds of his friends, family & loved ones. The family requests that any donations be made in Al's name to: Arizona Humane Society, Attn: Development Department, 1521 W Dobbins Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85041
