Roland Currie Obituary

Currie, Roland W. "Ron"
passed away on March 14 at Oak Crest Manor in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was born to Archie and Minetha (Freeborn) Currie in Starkweather, ND on June 5, 1920. Roland attended grade school and high school in Starkweather and graduated from Devils Lake Central High. He attended Montana State College two years prior to WWII, and after the war graduated from North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU). He was employed as a manager by the Prudential Insurance Co. of America in the Real Estate Investment Department, from where he retired after 33 years and moved to Mesa , Arizona. He was a WWII veteran having served 40 months overseas as a Merchant Marine officer. Roland was a member of the Desert Mariners, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus and served his church as a Eucharistic Minister. He is survived by his son Donald (Darlyne) of East Grand Forks, granddaughter Cathy Currie of Albuquerque, eight nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by Leona, his beloved wife of 61 years, parents, sister, six brothers and two nephews. A memorial service will be held at a time and place to be announced later.
