Henry Shudinis Obituary
Age 89, of Glendale, has flown his final mission and touched the face of God on March 21, 2011. H.S. was born in West Frankfort, IL on January 3, 1922. Do not weep for him, for he was grateful of every moment he lived on earth. He survived 3 wars as a fighter pilot, serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. H.S. leaves behind a loving wife of 64 years, Virginia; 5 children: George Shudinis, Jeanne Dutton, Caren Lynde, Patty Collins, and Michael Shudinis; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Rouse. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, March 25 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, with Rosary at 7pm. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, March 26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 5614 W. Orangewood Ave., Glendale. Private family interment will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Hospice of the Valley. I send my deepest condolences to the Shudinis family. Having spent a great deal of time during my youth in your household, I had great respect and love for Col. Shudinis. He had a fabulous laugh and was a wonderful man. He taught me many life lessons and was a real hero. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Karen Brown

Even though I did not know you well I can only image what a great man you are from the stories told to me by your son. You are an American Hero. I also know you gave the world a great son named Mike who is not only my friend but my family. I thank you for that as he has touched the lives of many people all over the world. He is a great reflection of you and always will be. Rest in Peace.

Hank, you will be dearly missed. You were a great mentor to me in life and my career as a fellow fighter pilot. Your sense of humor was a gift. Your wife and family were something I never had experienced and welcomed. Fly safe and not too many horse races in Heaven.

Hank, I am speechless. You were a father and mentor to me, in life and our similar careers; in good times and bad. We all were blessed to have known you. You will be dearly missed on this end. Another of the greatest generation moves on to a better place.

I have so many fantastic memories of times with Uncle Hank to mention. I cannot express how grateful I am to him and Aunt Virginia for always making me feel so welcome and loved on visits to their home. He will be missed but never forgotten (especially when a good polka tune is played).

Uncle Hank, I enjoyed the many times of coming down to see our cousins in Wichita and then Glendale. We drank Tang, played chess and listen to polka. Every second was a joy and I am a better person knowing you.
