Robert Hill Obituary

Hill, Robert Woodward (Woody)
Robert Woodward (Woody) Hill, a native of Arizona, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, friends and clergy at the age of 64, on March 25, 2011. He was born in Phoenix Arizona on April 20, 1945. He graduated from North High School in Phoenix and then served honorably in the United States Air Force in the mid-1960's, including serving in the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in Iceland. Bob, as his family liked to call him, met the love of his life, Antonia "Toni" (Chavez) Hill and they married on July 20, 1964. They were married until the untimely death of Toni in 1998 and had three children, Denny (Darcie), Kenneth (Julie) and Ardra (Spencer) Hansen. Woody, as he was called in business, worked most of his career in the swimming pool industry in the Phoenix area, starting in the early 1970's until his recent retirement, ranging from wholesale distribution to service & repair, to remodeling & custom construction. He loved his work and treated his business associates and clients as though they were family. Among Woody's lasting legacies is the many neighborhood boys he positively affected through his involvement in Boy Scouting, serving as Assistant Scout Master of Troop 67 at Trinity Lutheran Church in north central Phoenix in the late 1970s and early 1980s. As with his dedication to family and work, Woody was a model to others and brought forth a work ethic and a passion in life to do things right and with a spirit of service. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed, although he leaves us with his indelible spirit. He is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, his sister Charlene (Jorge) Escobar and his many relatives. He is also survived by several long-time close friends, who were supportive and loving to Woody and are cherished. He is proceeded in death by his wife Toni, his mother Ora, and his brother James. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale. Reception to follow. Woody worked with my dad, Ralph Martin for a number of years in the decorative fountain business. He and I worked together on his taxes until he retired from business. He was a dear friend, always with a good story and a quick smile. I will never forget his big black truck that he kept meticulously. He will be truly missed. Ralph Martin III
