John Fassel Obituary
91, of Phoenix passed away on March 26, 2011. John immigrated from Austria with his family at the age of seven. He lived in Buffalo, NY until 1965, and then moved to Phoenix, working for the state of Arizona for many years. A veteran of World War II and an accomplished hiker, John logged over 1400 miles in the Grand Canyon. He is survived by son Jack (Debbie), son Mike (Cindy) and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family expanded and was enhanced when he married his second wife, Edith Mae. His love of his family, his church, and his country were the key elements of his life. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 9th, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 6522 N. 39th Ave, Phoenix. Memorial contributions to St. Mary's Church or Hospice of Arizona.

John was a dear man to know. He brought love & happiness into our family. I will never forget his gentleness and sincerity, the joy that he brought into Grandma's life and his own special traits like coordinating his socks & shirts and those cat naps. The best gift you can give your parents is your time and love. Be comforted knowing that your father knew he was loved. You have been a great son and I can only hope that Andy looks after me as you did for John. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you during these difficult days.
