Glenda Jones Obituary

Jones, Glenda Faye
Glenda was born to doting parents Glen and Frankie Rook on July 25, 1944 in Memphis, TN. She was welcomed by big sister Ireyse who looked after and cared for her during her youth and the two remained close throughout her entire life. She met Patsy Burton in 1952 and Diane Morrison shortly after. She shared a remarkably special bond with both. Considering them her dearest friends right until her untimely passing. Married Joe Jones on October 27, 1963 and mothered three children, Terri, Traci, and Jay. She treated her kids as her greatest treasure and showered them with more love and affection than seemed humanly possible. Blessing them time and again by taking the simplest circumstances and turning them into special memories. Creating a foundation of security that impacts every aspect of their lives. Endured a variety of career experiences as a matter of necessity, blessing others along the way. She had positions as a bank teller, postal worker, and psychiatric technician at the county hospital, among others. Glenda and Joe eventually separated. Though divorced, she proved herself to be a faithful friend and loyal supporter remaining a blessing to him throughout the remainder of her life. Continued her love of family by developing beautiful and nurturing relationships with her grandchildren. Becoming the Nana by which all other Nanas will be judged. A Christian woman who loved music, books, and movies. She loved country cooking and any excuse to be with friends and family. She lived in the moment, refusing to be persuaded or beaten by poor circumstances. She will be remembered as a loving person who put others ahead of herself, always fighting to understand and overcome their shortcomings. You have touched us all and we miss you already. We love you. Glenda succumbed to stomach cancer on March 23, 2011 at 10:45pm while blessing the staff of the Hospice of the Valley Gardiner House at 1522 W. Myrtle Ave. Phoenix, AZ. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am Saturday April 2, 2011 at Jesus First Church, location 498 W. Missouri Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85013. Everyone welcome.

I, also being a former Memphian, can only imagine the genuine love and charity of Glenda Faye. The world is a much better place as it was blessed with her being. My love and prayers to all Glenda Fayes family and friends at this time of her passing into the arms of the angels. May she look down on each of you with loving arms and her warm smile.
