Cassi Pettit Obituary

Pettit, Cassi DeAnn
33, of Phoenix, Arizona, died March 27, 2011 after a three and one half year battle with brain cancer. Cassi was born February 11, 1978 in Amarillo, Texas to Mark and Debbie Pettit. She lived most of her life in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School, and later working for American Classified. Cassi was very involved helping others in her community. She served as a board member for the Downtown Women's Center and unselfishly contributed her energies to the substance abuse support community. In 2005 she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, married Robert Pettit, and continued her support work. After recovering from brain cancer surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation in 2007, Cassi generously gave strength to others facing life-threatening illness. She is survived by her husband, Robert Pettit, daughter Alexis Hazelwood of Amarillo, son Corbin Pettit of Phoenix, and two sisters, Racheal Jones and Heather Bernett, both of Amarillo, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dad, Mark Pettit and mom, Debbie Stimpson-Pettit. Cassi was a strong and beautiful woman who loved life and her family and friends. Cassi's list of friends grew through her involvement with organizations and events that helped her community and friends throughout her life. Cassi's selfless dedication to assist any of her friends or family troubles was legendary. She had a way of making people laugh and brightening up a room. She was the bright and shiny spot in our world. We have lost a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend too soon. Each of us will lose a part of ourselves, but all of our lives have been immeasurably enriched by knowing Cassi. She was a strong woman of faith and her kindness and sweetness always brought out the best in everyone around her. Cassi will be greatly missed by all those who have been blessed by knowing her. Cassi will forever live in our memories and our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 East Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251.
