Fred Spencer Obituary

Spencer, Fred Garry
Fred, age 83, of Tucson, passed away on March 27th of complications from a stroke suffered last August. He was surrounded by loving family and his caregivers at Amore Assisted Living of Tucson when he passed. Fred was born December 22, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois. Fred lived in Chicago as an infant and then relocated to Lake Worth, Florida. His passion for fishing and sailing was acquired on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Worth. Fred moved to Phoenix with his parents in the late 1940's and became an apprentice car painter. He married Shirley Fouts on April 9, 1950. His car painting career lasted until his retirement from Coulter Cadillac as their paint shop manager in 1993. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge #2, Phoenix, a 33rd Degree Mason and served as Worshipful Master in 1964. Fred and his wife built a cabin in northern Arizona where they spent many memorable years fishing and hunting with family and friends. Fred was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed each of his callings as well as visiting the Mesa Temple. Fred moved to Tucson with his wife in 2005 and they built a beautiful casita adjacent to his son's home. Shortly after his wife passed away in 2006, Fred went to work at the Marana Wal-Mart as a store greeter. He thoroughly enjoyed this job and made many special new friends. Fred is survived by his son Garry A. and wife Billye Jo; daughters, Gail Castelli and husband Dino, Gwen Walsh and husband Robert; eight grandchildren, Torrye Pitman, Robyn Haggard, Kyle and Jacob Spencer, Danielle Castelli-Wright, Celina (Castelli) Ramsdale and Preston and Delaney Walsh; seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Fred was deeply loved and will be missed dearly; his memory will be kept alive in our hearts forever. Visitation will be on Friday, April 1st, at 10:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3500 W. Sumter Drive, Tucson. Friends are also welcome to attend a short graveside service on April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memory Lawn in Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Adair (Northern) Funeral Home in Tucson.
