Fronk, Gary L.
Gary L. Fronk, 74, of Sun City West, AZ died Saturday March 19th at Hospice of the Valley of multiple illnesses after a four month battle. Gary was born 1-17-1937 in Iola, KS to Charles and Winifred Fronk. He attended Humbolt High School in Humbolt, KS. He continued his education at Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia graduating with a B.A. in Business Administration. His work career began in Kansas City at BMA, continued with General United in Des Moines, IA and finally, USLife in Arlington Heights, IL. In 1998 he retired after 40 years in the insurance industry. One of Gary's greatest pleasures was volunteering his time at the South Des Moines Little League in Des Moines, IA. In 1981, Gary brought a sense of community to Southeast side of Des Moines by restructuring the entire league and in 1982, he pioneered the Handicap League allowing children with various disabilities to participate in Little League. Many of his strongest friendships were forged at South Des Moines Little League. In 2000, Gary and his wife Patricia moved to Sun City West, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fronk of Sun City West, AZ; son, Christopher of New Carlisle, IN along with wife Tracy and their children; Sarah (9), Benjamin (7) and Isaac (3); daughter, Nicole Fronk of Greeley, CO and her children; Jacob (13), Payton (10) and Shane (7); sister, Janice Smith of Sun City West, AZ her husband Joe and niece, Lisa Smith of Des Moines, IA. He leaves behind his closest friends; Bramlet Wise of Hilltop Lakes, TX and Bill McCarthy of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Winifred Fronk and brother, Leland. Gary is remembered as a fiercely loyal friend, a stern and fair boss, a loving husband, caring father and a proud grandfather. Celebration of Life will be April 11th 11:00 a.m. at Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West, AZ. Graveside services will be June 25th at 11:00 a.m. Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS.
