Clarence Kocher Obituary
95, of Sun City, passed away on March 29, 2011. Clarence was born in Meadowbrook, WV to Laurence Kocher and Hazel Martin. He worked as a farmer before enlisting in the Army in October 1941. Clarence was shipped to Europe where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. When he was discharged in 1945, he came back to work in the coal mines of Ohio where he met Rosie Lucille Townson. They were married in 1947. During their marriage, they raised four daughters; Eloise Gault (Don) of Sun City, AZ, Judy Dovidio, Bonnie Ailing, and Karen Polony all of Canton, Ohio. Clarence and Rosie also spent many years as foster parents while living in Ohio. After Clarence left the coal mines, he was employed by Republic Steel in Ohio. He and Rosie moved to Arizona in 1975, spending their remaining years in Sun City. Some of the best memories are of Clarence and Rosie teaching their grandchildren how to play cards and dominos. Clarence was also an avid pool player. Clarence was finally awarded his Bronze Star on Father's Day 2006 at a ceremony where four generations of the family with military service were in attendance. Rosie passed away in August 2007, just days short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Clarence is survived by a brother, Harold Kocher of Ohio, four daughters, eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a continuing growth of great great grandchildren. Clarence and Rosie were laid to rest in a private ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

I have so many wonderful memories of Clarence through out the last 26 years at West Olive Church of Christ. Clarence was always there with a smile on his face and ready to help where needed. I could always count on him to carve the holiday turkeys for hundreds of people and he did such a superb job. I will miss him dearly and know that he is with his loving wife Rosie and they are now wrapped in the arms of our Lord. Many prayers for his family during this difficult time. Rest in peace my friend.
