Patricia Lancaster Obituary

Lancaster, Patricia Carolyn Christensen
Patricia Carolyn Christensen Lancaster was born January 21, 1932 in St. Edward, Nebraska to Albert H. and Frances E. Christensen. She died in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 25, 2011. Patricia attended University of Nebraska, Kearney and acquired her Laboratory Technician Certificate at Northwestern University, Chicago. She married her childhood sweetheart, James R. Lancaster, in 1953. Her interest in music began at an early age with the piano. At Kearney High School, she played the string bass and sang in octet and choir. For many years she performed with the Chicago Master Singers as well as church choirs. She was an enthusiastic attendee and supporter of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival, Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago, and Arizona Musicfest. She was actively involved in the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago and the Little Garden Club of Barrington. Patti and Jim were avid travelers and explored most of the world. Together they entertained friends and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Family was of utmost importance to Patricia, as evidenced by the frequent reunions she organized. Patricia is survived by her husband, James R. Lancaster, and five children: Anne Springer (Scott); Craig Lancaster; Nancy Liskevych (Taras); Mark Lancaster (Nancy Woodruff); Amy Lancaster, and twelve grandchildren. Patricia is also survived by her sisters Mary Ellen Wood, Germaine Oldfather (Alan) and Anne Kurtz (Lynn); and was preceded in death by her siblings, Max and Thomas Christensen. Services will be held on June 4th at 4:30 p.m. at the Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road, Barrington, IL 60010. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, Illinois 60010 or to Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, 3600 W. Fullerton Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60647.
