Reilly, Joseph James
Joseph James Reilly of Sun City passed away at home on April 2, 2011 after a long, wonderful life. He was Husband, father of 4, grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 11 and great- great grandfather of 3. Born on February 28, 1919 in his family home in Whitestone, NY; the same home in which he raised his own family until 1966 when he retired from New Yorks Finest, and moved to Phoenix. He had a second career in AZ at the Department of Motor Vehicles from which he retired. Joe married Kathleen on Valentine's Day 1942, and served in the the military, a member of the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers. Joe has now joined his son Joseph in Heaven along with numerous relatives and many friends. We will miss him, his stories and his favorite Irish song immensely. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Kathleen, and his 3 daughters, Kathleen Tokar (Richard), Patricia Spillers (Alan) and Maureen (Jerry Rutiz) and all of his "grands". Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Menke Funeral Home 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City. Funeral Mass will be held at 8:45 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Burial will follow (with Military Honors) at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spina Bifida Association (spinabifidaassociation.org) or Hospice of the Valley, 9435 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, AZ.
