Lois Turner Obituary

Turner, Lois Ruth
82, went to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and to be with her beloved husband, Gordon, on March 30, 2011. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 23, 1928 to Ruth and Frederick Allan and married the love of her life, Gordon Turner on October 23, 1947. They moved to Glendale, Arizona in July of 1959 where she was a dedicated and devoted mother to their six children: Allan (Michelle) Turner, Irene (Mike) Pomeroy, Raymond (Paula) Turner, Carol (Mike) Baxter, Glen (Denise) Turner and Maureen (Tim) Spell. After retirement, she and Gordon moved to Sun City, Arizona. Lois is survived by her 6 children, her 19 grandchildren, her 15 great-grandchildren and her 2 great-great grandchildren. Her passing was sudden, and she will be remembered as kind and loving to everyone she met. She treasured children, especially the very young ones, and loved to play the piano or organ for children or anyone who liked to sing along. Gordon and Lois helped to start Epworth United Methodist Church and she was an active member for more than 50 years. She was kind, loving and compassionate and always had a cheery smile. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at Best Funeral Services in Peoria on Thursday, April 7 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be at Epworth United Methodist Church on Friday evening, April 8 at 5:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Memorial Fund of Epworth Church, 4802 North 59th Ave, Phx, AZ, 85031

Delightful and Devoted. I really enjoyed seeing my Aunt Lois when she visited Michigan in the summer. Over the past several years her devotion to her sister Phyllis was so strong. And she was so devoted to her brother Tommy, my Dad. I'll so miss hearing the stories she would tell of growing up with my Dad. And I'll remember all those times she said "how delightful". That word delightful really describes Lois's life and her faith. Her kindness and devotion to our family has been a wonderful gift to me. Thank you Father for Aunt Lois!!

Deepest sympathy to all the family and friends of Lois. She was such a wonderful woman. I had met Lois at Epworth while attending as a child with my parents (Howard and Mary Wilcox). I remember her smile and her interest in how you were doing always. She was such a great friend to my mother and we Thank her so much for that. May she rest in peace and family and friends find comfort in her memories.

May your family know how much love you spread around Lois. It wasn't just to your family. I at the age of 8 years old knew just how special you were when my family started attending Epworth Methodist. I'm now 57 and I never forgot you even long after I was no longer attending Epworth. Lois remained a true friend to my mother, which I will forever be grateful for having her come into our families life. Looking back over the years I know her secrete to life was making everyone else feel special around her. Comfort to all that loved her.

This obituary describes Lois so well. She was a wonderful, cheerful, loving lady. My whole family loved her when we attended Epworth. I was so surprised and happy much later in life to see her at Good Shepherd, bringing her musical talent to the residents when mother was there. She loved and cared for all. She is truly one of God's chosen ones.

Please accept my sympathies. I met Lois when I first moved to Glendale in 1959 right behind Gordon's and Lois' house. I was in my second year of high school. I have many fond memories of Lois. She visted my mother here in Ohio in the fall of 2009. My mother loved her dearly. I last visted Lois in October, 2010 when she joined us on trip to Sedona to scatter my mother's ashes (my mother had passed in Februry, 2010). Her family will be in my prayers.

Please accept our condolences. I met Lois when my mother moved in with me 5 years ago. Lois walked past our house on the corner of Andover and 101st Ave. and would stop to talk to my mother, Dorothy Hazlett. My mother does not get out much, but she would also walk around the block with her walker and stop to talk to Lois. Lois was always so sweet and friendly and over the next few years, my mother has grown to love her dearly. We will all miss Lois, but especially my mother, Dorothy, will miss her the most. My love and prayers go out to her family.

I have so many fond childhood memories of Aunt Lois. Although in later years we did not get to visit frequently, once in 1996, she and Uncle Gordon came to San Francisco and we took the ferry across the bay to Tiburon. She was a wonderful lady and I will always remember her fondly.

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. Lois leaves me with many pleasant memories of our PTA days in Glendale and with the surprise and joy of meeting her for a conversation in more recent years.
