Luther Germundson Obituary

Germundson, Luther Paul
Luther Paul Germundson, 53, passed away suddenly Monday April 4, 2011. Luther was born on March 9, 1958 in Karlstad, MN. He was a consummate car guy starting with H. E. Everson Parts Co., in Karlstad. In 1986 he followed his dream and moved to Arizona where he met the love of his life, Debbie Snyder. After 3 ½ years of romance they were married on August 11, 1990, in La Jolla, CA. Luther worked at Supershuttle and Autozone, before finding his true calling in auto sales with Toyota. He was recognized for his excellence in sales and customer service, winning The Toyota Sales Society Award in 2007, consistently praised for all of his achievements. He retired in 2008, leaving a void in a dealership that will never be filled in the same way. Everyone who met Luther loved him. He had a personality that was bigger than life and a laugh to go along with it. One look from those sparkling eyes and infectious smile and you instantly felt you could trust him. A consummate optimist, with a heart overflowing with pride and love for his family. This is the Luther that all were blessed to know. He loved to play golf and was darn good at it. To say he was passionate about Cardinals Football was an understatement. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and will live on in their hearts forever. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Deborah, his sons, Barret and Dallas (wife Briana) and grandsons, Luca and Zachary Germundson; parents, Loren and Lola; brother, Neil (Shannon); sisters, Lori Hetrick and Ann Wilson (husband Dean); nieces and nephews, Aubree, Julia, Nevada, Sadie, Aquillon, Devin, Dylan, Nikki, Ariana, Colton, Siara and his furry, four-legged daughter, Maya. Services will be held at 10AM, Saturday, April 9, 2011, Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 E. Greenway Rd., Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, an account is being established with Bank of America in memory of Luther. The proceeds of your generosity will go to offset funeral expenses, and the remainder will be donated to the Cardinals Charities. Please contact Bank of America with any questions. Thank you. In 1990-91, I had the humble honor of working under Luther at AutoZone in Mesa. Luther made our store a better place just by being there, let alone running it the way he did, like we were his family. I moved to the west side of Phoenix and transferred to a store out there and soon after left AutoZone. I have thought of Luther very often over the years and wish that I had made an effort to keep in touch. I decided I needed to find him, if nothing more than to just say hi and hopefully to reconnect. Finding this page today was a shock and I'm saddened by hearing that he was taken up to heaven while still so young. I know it's been ten years, but I'm sure he is thought of missed every day by those who love him. God bless your family, Luther, you were truly a great friend to me and I'm sure the best husband and father, son and brother.

Debbie, Although I never met Luther, I felt like I new him. When you spoke about him while you were cutting my hair I could tell you two were crazy about each other and that you loved him very much. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.

I was so happy to see Luther in Karlstad last November; it brought back very good childhood memories for me, and of course we had a great time. I was hoping that we could get together again next fall. Our entire family is shocked and saddened, and we will always have fond memories of Luther. He will be missed.

Dear Brother Luther lived his life like he drove his 'hot-rod' car when he was a teenager in Karlstad, Minnesota----without a muffler! He lived life fully, and could make the windows in the house shake when he pulled into the driveway....I love his Zest! I smile in his honor!
