David Morton Obituary

Morton, David N.
David Morton, 71 of Phoenix, beloved father, brother, uncle, zaida and friend went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2011. David had many special gifts that he shared with his family and friends. He was an amazing pianist and could play piano by ear; he was an accomplished chef who loved to entertain large groups at church or dinner parties at home. One of his greatest loves was his dogs, which were many throughout the years and most recently, Rey Rey. He was an entrepreneur who was always looking for his next big deal. His early years were in sales and real estate, he owned a couple of restaurants, was a promoter for Evel Knievel when he jumped the Snake River Canyon, dabbled in fine jewelry, Learjet's, and Morton-Steiman Fine Art Galleries. He traded collector automobiles, his favorite a 1928 Rolls Royce with a mink interior. He loved beautiful things and clothes; he was very smart and never forgot a telephone number. He had a heart for the Hispanic community and drove a bus to pick up children from south Phoenix to drive them to church. He was a very generous and loving man. David was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2008. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Banner Alzheimer's Institute where he was so lovingly treated. David is survived by his children, Peter Morton (Marti), Lanny Morton (Marti), Lisa Sipes (Stan), Becca Morton (Gage Clegg); brother, Max Morton (Sharon), loving niece and nephews. Grandchildren, Troy Morton, Mitchell Morton, Jackson Sipes, Sean Sipes, Rachel Sipes, Peyton Morton; Step Grandsons, Christian Noren and Q Morton Clegg. A Celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85282.
