Peter Stelzer Obituary

Stelzer, Peter Alan
66, was an Emmy Award winning producer who died in his home on April 5, 2011. He was a father, husband, uncle, friend, teacher, and coach who was beloved by every person he came in contact with. His passion and intensity was not only dedicated to his work, but also to his family, friends, and students. The Phoenix Film Institute not only taught actors the skills needed to succeed in the business, but also shaped his students into the people they are today. An amazing cook who spent most of his free time watching the cooking channel, Peter truly enjoyed life and loved his family deeper than most people ever love in their lifetime. With his crazy stories and hilarious sense of humor, Peter's life was filled to the brim with happiness and entertainment. He is survived by his soul-mate, Marla Finn Stelzer,60, and his two daughters, Ali Rae, 27, and Daisy Faye, 21. His life was cut too short, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all the people whose lives have changed due to this amazing man. The Stelzer family will be holding a "Celebration of Life" on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at their home in Scottsdale, AZ on Peter's behalf. It will begin at 3pm and continue until late. It is a potluck with casual dress, colored clothes preferred.

Peter, John Hostetter, Steve Drews and I shared a house in Ithaca. It was the hippest house in a very hip town, in many ways thanks to Peter. He was the person you looked up to, the person who could help you make the mature decisions, the anchor in a house filled with creativity and intelligence.

The Ithaca years remain with me more than ever. I think of those times with a great sense of nostalgia, but also with a great sense of satisfaction. Thank god we went through them. And thank god I got to know Peter, not only as a housemate but as a good and tolerant friend.

Although we fell out of touch, I always thought I'd see him again. We always think there's plenty of time for everything, but sometimes that is simply not under our control, despite our best efforts.

My deepest sympathies for your loss.

Best,
Bret Littlehales

Our lives have been better because we got to know an amazing human being: Peter. We feel blessed that we got to share with him and Marla, and got to meet the girls, Ali and Daisy in the past 4 years. He will be missed, but his legacy will live in every little actor/actress that he guided. He was a mentor, a friend, a teacher, a comedian, a family man, and he put his heart and soul in all of these roles. Feeling your loss and wishing you strenght, The Severs Family.
