Tamara Lee Buckley Steimel

Tamara Steimel Obituary

Tamara Lee (Tami) Buckley Steimel A radiant light that shone brightly in our lives is now only in our hearts and fond memories but lives on with all of the family and friends of Tami and all who knew or encountered her. Tami passed away peacefully on April 5th at 4:35 PM surrounded by her immediate family after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer. Tami, a native of Phoenix, was born January 23, 1957 to parents Dick and Dabney Buckley at St Joseph's Hospital. She is survived by her parents, her husband of 26 years, Tom Steimel, her son Austin (AJ) Steimel, her two step sons Tyler (Heather) and grandchildren Sierra and Corbin; Sean Steimel (Tegan) and grandson Kade. Tami is also survived by her brother Jim Buckley, nieces Brynn and Blaire and nephew Josh and by her sister Kristen Tvedt (Brad) and niece Ellie and nephew Lars; and brother-in-law Jim Steimel (Alicia) as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tami was a graduate of Sunnyslope High School and attended Arizona State University before entering a career in banking and later assisting her husband Tom in their Project and Capital Expenditure Management practice. Tami loved to garden and her home was always open to her many friends and extended family. She was the ultimate hostess, but her greatest love in life was watching her son, AJ playing football and baseball and never missed a game in three and a half years even during several bouts with radiation and chemotherapy. She was known for an incredible smile, remarkable grace and amazing courage and she will be missed by many friends and family. Tami's strength and courage was an inspiration and example to all who knew her. Our beautiful Tami known affectionately by just "T" and "T-Ball" by her cousins, friends and often her sons will finally rest peacefully and will watch the balance of AJ's games and ASU games from a skybox. The Memorial Service is scheduled at Brophy College Preparatory Chapel at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 16th. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Tami's name for a scholarship fund being established at Brophy College Prep, 4701 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85012. W & M

She was a beautiful person inside and out. The world lost a good one. She changed our lives while living and in her passing.

Dear Tom, AJ, and all the Buckleys,

There are few people in this world that possess all of the qualities that Tami owned. I, too, will always look back remembering Tami and the warm beautiful smile that was always beaming from her face.

I'm sure that everyone who was lucky enough to be welcomed into their home in the "enchanted neighborhood" left wondering "why don't we have neighbors like them!?" I'm also sure we were all waiting for the older neighbor next to them wondering when he was going to sell is his house or just leave so we could be neighbors and enjoy all the fun that they always seemed to have.

Tami might not be here right now but her spirit will always be next door.

We love you, Tami.

Clark and Leslie.

Tom, AJ, Tyler, Heather, Sean, Tegan,
I wish that we could be there Saturday for all of you, but know that we will be in spirit. As I have said in cards and letters Tami was one of the two most beautiful souls that I had ever known in my life. She took us in as part of her family and we always knew we were welcomed in her home and heart. Her imprint on your lives will be carried and live in you for the rest of your lives. I am blessed to have called her friend and family. May God grant you all peace in your hearts and bless you greatly for the love you gave this incredible woman.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Tami's family. I worked with Tami at Grand Canyon State Bank many years ago (24!) and "reunited" with her at Scottsdale Fashion Square almost 6 years ago after we moved back to the Valley. She was as beautiful then as when I remembered her all those years ago at the bank. We shared some good memories that day, and her face just lit up when telling me about her son - she was so proud of him!

Seems like yesterday when I met Tami. She lived across the hall in PV Main when we were all freshman at ASU. She was always so much fun. Through the years, I enjoyed running into her at ASU games and at BCP. My condolences to her family. She will be missed....

I will always remember Tami... So beautiful, kind, cheerful, and loving. As a young child, I looked up to her and wished I would be just like her one day. She will be missed tremendously but will live forever in our hearts.

There is not enough space to list all the wonderful qualities that Tami possessed. She was beautiful inside and out.Her smile was infectious and she exuded positive energy even when she was not feeling well. She loved her family and was so proud of AJ. Her beauty, kindness and love will live on through him always. She will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Tom and AJ.

It is with extreme sadness that I learned of Tami's passing; she and I shared some wonderful times long ago and I had the privilege of introducing Tom & Tami and watched the day they met when Tom fell in love and never was the same! It was truly love at first sight. My sincere and heartfelt love and prayers to Tom, AJ and the family...with tremendous sadness that we lost touch over the years....and my prayers that the Lord will continue to watch over the family at this time. God bless you,

Tom,

I am so sorry for you and your family. I understand that our get together ended up bringing Tom Allender into your situation and I hope that brought some solace. Susanne's and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was so shocked to see Tami's smiling face when I turned the page in the paper this morning. We worked together at a golf magazine in the early 90's and I remember rushing her to the hospital when AJ was on his way! She was a good friend back then but I hadn't seen her in several years, so I didn't know she'd been ill. My heart goes out to her family and friends. She was a wonderful woman, gone far too soon.
