Kathryn Bayer Obituary

Bayer, Kathryn (Kathy) Elizabeth
of Mesa passed away March 30, 2011 at the age of 85. She was born to Orpha May Cook and Emery Leyal Ridpath on October 29, 1925 in Deep River Iowa. Kathy had been a resident of Mesa since 1953. Kathy retired from Mesa Public Schools in 1987 after many years as an elementary school secretary. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mesa where she had served as a Deacon and an Elder. Kathy enjoyed church, music, cooking, baking, sewing and entertaining family, friends and relatives. Kathy was also active in antique car clubs along with her husband Vernon. Kathy was preceded in death by Vernon, her husband of 54 1/2 years. Kathy and Vernon were reunited in heaven on their 64th wedding anniversary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 23rd at 1:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Mesa located at 161 N. Mesa Drive. Kathy's survivors include her daughter Mary Bayer of Reno Nevada, son David Bayer and his wife Theresa of Gilbert Arizona, daughter Jane and her husband Paul Praxel of Mesa Arizona, granddaughter Meghan Praxel Scott and her husband Matt, great-granddaughters, Maddison and Reagan Scott also of Mesa and her sister Jean Garey of Armagosa Valley Nevada. We will all miss your sweet smile. In lieu of flowers her family suggests contributions to Hospice of the Valley which may be sent to 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014 or First Presbyterian Church music program which may be sent to First Presbyterian Church at 161 N. Mesa Drive, Mesa AZ 85201.
