In the earliest days of the Bob Meighan Band (early 70s) I would see them pretty regularly play at the Village In Pizza Parlor on Thomas Road. Met him a few times when he, and sometimes a couple bandmates, Bob and their then guitarist Mark Aguire, came over to our house to party after a show one night. Good time, and the obit I'm reading here was spot on. Really nice guy, open and friendly. I remember those days fondly.

My sympathies to Dick's family and friends. I will always remember the many happy hours spent listening to Dick and the Meighan Band, especially that stick-bass on Red Ball Texas Flier. May the Orange Blossom Special speed him to the stars.

Dick Furlow is in God's palace now. No more fears, no more pain. Just the love and warmth of Jesus and all the angels. May he rest in peace. We were in the same graduating class in High School.

My wife and I first met Dick in 2001 thru a realtor. As it turned out we purchased a new custom home in the Tucson Mountains that Dick was just completing. Thru this we came to know Dick as a generuos, caring man with a keen sense of humor.

I remember one night after we closed and were living in the house that there was a water drip in the hallway durring a hard rain. I had called Dick to advise him and fully expected someone to show up the next morning, but to my amazement the door bell rang later that night and there stood Dick in a rain coat with a pail of roofing tar! It was a blessing to know him.

I had to pleasure of reuniting with Dick in 2007 and again in 2009 — following a long absence from Arizona. A kind-hearted man and a great musician — who will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his family and closest friends. Love Lau (Cooke) Qaissaunee

Bless Dick and his family. He was such a kind and accomplished guy even back when he was a teen, and it sure seems his life continued that way. I know we recognize him as an easy and friendly guy who excelled in music and was a star in the high-hurdles (track) in high school. His parents were always so gracious to us neighbor kids running around to one another's homes. It was grand to see and visit with him last fall at the reunion. He was a hit, there. I am sure everywhere. Dick's Bronze Stars tell us that he faced certain personal peril for other's well being during his time in service.

A true gentleman, with a calm and predictable demeanor, not typcial of musicians. Dick was an extremely tasteful bass guitar player, and a great person. I never knew of Dick's military awards; but it comes as no surprise. It was truly an honor knowing Dick many years ago in the world of music.

You will be missed by all whose lives you touched.

I will miss you, Dick. You were always an important part of the Bob Meighan Band and I was a big fan dating back to the mid-70's. It was so nice to see you reunite with Bob and Norm Pratt in Phoenix after all of those years ago.
