Jack Schirmer Obituary

Schirmer, Jack L.
Jack L. Schirmer, beloved husband of Charlotte for 25 years, passed away at the age of 60 after a courageous life-long struggle with debilitating disease on April 4, 2011 and is now in peace. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Gaile and Shirley Laddy Schirmer. Jack was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota May 24, 1950. He came to Arizona to attend college and graduated from the University of Arizona. After graduation, Jack worked in the trucking industry much of his life. He began his career by working for his father's firm, Schirmer Tank Lines. In 1975, Jack accepted a position with Ruan Transport/AZ. Tank Lines as a trainee and was promoted to the position of terminal manager. Jack elected to stay in Arizona and therefore turned down a corporate position in Des Moines. He served in key management positions for several other companies throughout the remainder of his career. Jack enjoyed all sports and if anyone needed a lifeline or assistance to a sports question, Jack was the go-to person. He cherished his record collection, above all his 1960s and 70s albums. He loved animals, especially his dog Shelby. Despite all his pain, Jack loved life and maintained a positive atti
tude. Jack will be greatly missed by his wife Charlotte and his sister and brother-in-law Mary Jo and William Fairbanks of Chicago. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on April 23.
