John Simmons Obituary
John A. Simmons, Jr., 65, ofPeoria, AZ went to the angels on April 6, 2011. John retired after 15 years of service with the Local 640. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #29. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita; sons John (Patty), Stephan, Donald (Eileen) and daughter Rebecca (Terry); 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his son Steven. A Rosary service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 7 pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5614 W Orangewood Ave., Glendale, AZ. Inurnment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ. In l ieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up in the name of John Simmons, Jr., at Marisol Federal Credit Union Account # 356695, 721 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, AZ 85004.

My heart is heavy with sorrow. Uncle Butch was my life-long close personal friend, my hunting and fishing buddy, and co-hort in crime. I looked up to him, cherished his guidance and love, and always looked forward to spending time with him. His zest for life, and his commitment to his family and his God are examples to follow for us all.
I'll miss him terribly, and will cherish his memory always.
