Nancy Vershure Obituary

Vershure, Nancy Ellen
73, of Phoenix, a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, died with grace and dignity on April 7, 2011, in the presence of her sons and her Lord. A native of Tucson, Mrs. Vershure was the daughter of Dr. Lathrop Emerson Roberts, Professor and Chairman of the Chemistry Department at the University of Arizona, and Olga Rose DeVries Roberts. She was preceded in death by both parents and her brother, Dr. Lathrop Ellicott Roberts of Stamford, Connecticut. She is survived by her loving sons, Steven Robert Vershure, M.A., of Phoenix and David R. Vershure, J.D., of San Francisco, California. Nancy was an alumna of the University of Wisconsin, where she obtained a B.S. in Political Science in 1959. She was an avid student of contemporary politics, true crime and Hollywood celebrities. From 1976 to 1984, she was a devoted Arcadia High School mom. In later years, Nancy volunteered for the Arizona Humane Society, the Animal Welfare League and participated as an active member of Responding in Simple Kindness (RISK) Singles Ministry, affiliated with the Scottsdale United Methodist Church. A memorial service honoring Nancy's life will be held at her home at 4602 N. 49th Place, in Phoenix, at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 12. The home service will be followed by a graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery at 2033 N. 48th Street at 12:00 p.m. Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Arizona Humane Society or the Animal Welfare League.
