75, passed away peacefully in Phoenix, AZ on April 8th. She was born in Lake City, MI to Stanley and Rosalie Keelean. She is survived by her daughters Susan (Matthew) Vazana, Ann (John) Acierno and Jackie (Matthew) Smiley as well as her grandchildren Michael, Jacqueline, Julia, Megan, Emma, Elizabeth and Emily. In addition, she is survived by her sisters Virginia Keelean and Mary (Mike) Mehringer and brothers John (Sandy), George (Merilou), Joe (Carol), Mike (Jean) and Ed (Chris) and many nieces and nephews. She lived the majority of her life in the Detroit area as a teacher in the Chippewa Valley School district before retiring to Scottsdale, AZ in 1995. The most important things to Liz were her family, her church (St Patrick Catholic Community), her friends and her career as a teacher. For the greater part of her adult life she fought a courageous battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis, yet she never complained nor let it keep her from living life under her terms. Liz truly earned her eternal reward and touched all of us with her bravery and fight to live life to its fullest. She will be remembered by those we knew her for her generosity, strength and commitment. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12th from 4-8 with a Rosary at 7pm at Messinger Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd, Scottsdale AZ 85255. A funeral mass will be celebrated in her honor on Wednesday, April 13th beginning at Noon at St. Patrick Catholic Community at 10815 N. 84th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85260, a reception will follow at the church. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be forwarded to St. Patrick's c/o the Music Ministry or Youth Ministry OR the Chippewa Valley Educational Foundation (with a notation that funds should go to the Liz Deeb Memorial Scholarship Fund), 19120 Cass Ave., Clinton Township, MI 48038. A Memorial Mass and Burial will be held in Michigan at a later date.
